This May, we are very excited to launch Miles over Mind, an exciting campaign where we ask members of the Curve Foundation community to join us in walking, running, cycling, or scooting 100k throughout May as it is National Walking Month.
May is also Teenage ‘Self Esteem’ awareness month. in the UK, 79% of young people say how they look is very important to them, 52% worry about the way they look, 35% say they ‘often’ or ‘always’ worry about their body image (Statistics from Beat, eating disorder charity.) We are asking members of the Curve Foundation community to walk 100k in May to raise awareness of ‘Self Esteem’ in children and young people and raise sponsorship for Curve Foundation. As you know, fundraising has been challenging during the past year with the Covid–19 pandemic, so any monies raised in sponsorship would be gratefully received.
You can either complete the 100k on your own or split the distance by walking in groups of up to 5, as a double act or with your children, grandchildren, even the dog!
So get ready to wash down your walking boots, revise your route and get that spring in your step to join us for Miles over Mind this May.
How to get involved
Join in the 100k walk, run, cycle or scoot by creating a Just Giving Fundraising page and linking to our Curve Foundation Charity https://www.justgiving.com/CurveFoundation Get walking and get your friends, family, colleagues to donate to your page.
Donate to any of our Curve Crew that are already completing the challenge using https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/milesovermind
Share, tweet, like and use #milesovermind to help raise awareness of the challenge for others to see.
Our aim is to raise vital funds to launch a much-needed counselling service in Essex for young people with anxiety and depression who are on the NHS waiting list.
How to track your progress
Use the Curve Foundation Facebook event to showcase your progress! We want to see screenshots, videos and all sorts of photos!
You can use a basic Excel spreadsheet, Samsung Health App, Nike Run app, Bike GPS, Map my Run and My Fitness Pal! The choice is yours! You can screenshot your distance daily, weekly or bi–weekly, and put it into the Event to showcase your progress. It would be great to see 😊
At the end of the month, email hello@curvefoundation.org.uk with your distance completed for your Curve Foundation walking certificate.
And don’t forget to share on all your own social media platforms to shout out about your progress and gain those donations.
